Hey everyone. I'm Ellen Harry at etrailer.com, and today we're taking a quick look at the charging port with a 12 volt socket. It also has a cap to keep out any dirt, dust and debris, any water. So it's going to be our charging space so we can get any kind of accessories like our maybe compressor or small appliances charged up with that 12 volt port. It does have a metal ground nut, so this is also going to be the mounting nut and our ground connection. We can link our ground connection to that.
And then our positive connection goes here at the end.The dust cap, again, is going to seal that opening whenever it's not in use. This does have a one inch outer diameter, but the cutout that you'll need to use for this or the rough opening will need to be about 7/8ths of an inch. Again, gives us 12 volts of power and should be a nice replacement or addition to any vehicle that you'd want to add this on to. So your boat, your RV, off-road vehicle, anything like that.As far as the overall length, it's about 2 5/8ths inches long. Again, that outer diameter is going to be an inch, so our rough cutout needs to be about 7/8ths of an inch.
The cap is going to be a little bit more than that, about 1 1/8th inch in diameter.Then with the little tabs on either side, about 1 5/8ths inches long. That's pretty much all there is to it for our charging port 12 volt socket.
